Old Bailey Solicitors have secured the acquittal of a defendant accused of being involved in a large scale drugs conspiracy.
The defendant was accused along with 20 others if being involved in a large scale criminal conspiracy to import cocaine, the prosecution alleged that the conspiracy had, on a conservative estimate, imported more that 100 kilos of cocaine into the United Kingdom.
Our client had been extradited to the United Kingdom ofter fighting extradition for three years. On arrival in the United Kingdom Matthew Elkins took over the defence of the case.
Matt acted quickly to ensure all the client’s defence papers were sent from abroad and working with Stephen Walters, ensured the client’s case was presented in a way that clearly and persuasively illustrated the client’s defence.
All of the client’s co-defendants either pleaded guilty or were convicted after trial. After trial our client was acquitted and returned to his home country.
